        @manul70 @nixCraft Well, whilst AI is absolutely annoying. This sort of stance is going to have you stagnate everything in your environment. And if it has any online exposure, are you absolutely certain it's a good decision?

            @nixCraft the first kernel with AI slop 🤔 maybe I should freeze everything at <= 6

            if only security wasn't a thing. maybe it's time to ditch the internet

            @bazkie @nixCraft using AI and making AI slop are two different things. As Linus said, the cat is out of the bag. The decision to allow it being used as a tool while making a person responsible for it is probably the best compromise we can get. Its either that, or people will use it without disclosing it.

            Disclaimer: I hate AI as much as the next person, I have never used AI and dont plan to.

                @ItsePerkele @nixCraft "Its either that, or people will use it without disclosing it." I would prefer that latter option; maybe things can still be detected and the people banned, and maybe we can shame people into not using it.

                just my opinion

                  @clot27 @alexadeswift @nixCraft that is 100% AI slop. AI pooped out code is more buggy, has no idea about the wider systemic context it exists in, and is stolen from humans without consent.

                    @bazkie

                    Human beings are notorious for creating error filled code, and AI is worse. We should not be using AI to create code from whole cloth.

                      @bazkie @nixCraft so in other words you'd rather not know that you are using AI made code, instead of knowing that something does use AI made code and that a person has looked it over, made sure its not slop and vouches for it to work properly?

                      I'd rather know and have the option to not use it, than use it unknowingly.

                        @ItsePerkele @nixCraft how could you tell the difference between someone using AI and not telling, or someone admitting they used AI while claiming that they gave it a good human look afterwards? (which you can be sure they didn't, because if you know how to code, why would you use AI in the first place)

                        also how can you choose to not use something that will be included in the kernel?
