Bijou Phillips needs a new kidney and has put her publicity machine to work in order to find a live donor. OK, good for her I guess. But part of me wonders if her wealth and fame will result in some rando giving up a kidney for a few bux to a pointless socialite.

As a transplant organ recipient, few things yank my chain harder than celebs using their fame and publicity machines to skip the organ donation transplant lists and processes David Crosby-style. If Ms. Phillips fails to locate a live donor for her latest kidney, the transplant list would be her next option. And I have no doubt she would receive preferential treatment.

When will people start using their wealth to help people instead of gouge them?
