US launches Project Freedom operation in the Strait of Hormuz
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has officially announced the launch of Operation Project Freedom, aimed at restoring free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. As part of the operation, two American commercial vessels and destroyers have already safely transited the strait. According to Hegseth, this mission is fundamentally different from the previous Operation Epic Fury. The US leadership plans to gradually hand over responsibility for regional security to allied forces. Project Freedom is thus intended to mark a new phase in ensuring maritime security in this strategically vital area.
