I'm looking for an intro into set theory for a very non mathematical person. Everything I find uses numbers, sets of sets of sets, and such things.

Did the mathematicians loose their marbles? 🙂

I mean, explaining sets using marbles should be an easy way to introduce the concepts. Only if those are understood, it may be sensible to go to Hilberts hotel, Russells paradox, and maybe, just maybe to Cantors diagonal argument.

    #math #SetTheory #marbles

    Suggestions welcome.

@zerology watch out for SmartmanApps. If you do read his threads, most of them have replies (from me or others) debunking his nonsense (which he then fails to respond adequately to and blocks the person trying to educate him).

I have no idea how convincing his posts look to the non-mathematician, but if you have questions, I'm sure I or one of the others can help.

@FishFace Well. If somebody dismisses “the paradise that cantor made for us” (Hilbert) as “rubbish” (Smartman Apps), I tend to put more trust into Hilbert 🙂

        Thank you for caring!
