@bigzaphod This is the reason why I'm eyeing those little wind turbines with lust. Things are almost as bad where I live as they are in Seattle, Washington, USA.
Edit: Hmm. Worse than Seattle?
@LovingFalloutLondon1954 @bigzaphod Trouble with turbines is that they are enormously dependent upon having a big enough swept area and smooth airflow to generate power. So if you can see your neighbour without a telescope you probably don't have room 8(

@bigzaphod I have been able to power my old man rage using organic, artisanally sourced curmudeonness. Solar panels just made my yelling at clouds more environmentally friendly.

@bigzaphod @Heliograph 84% of possible sunshine hours have sunshine with over 3,800 hours per year of sunshine. Also I don’t have solar which I should.

@Ronnie @bigzaphod @Heliograph NV Energy thanks you.

@larand @bigzaphod @Heliograph They’d probably also like it if I was putting electricity back into their grid to help out with the peak times although, knock on wood, we’ve never had issues like that. Apparently our electrical grid is very robust. The alternative to not having power is a lot of deaths so I guess they make it work.

@Ronnie @bigzaphod @Heliograph but then you have to deal with the Vegas heat.

@scifi451 @bigzaphod @Heliograph Your solar puts up some big numbers though.

I hate nights. Nights cost me a lot of money.

@bigzaphod Tell me about it! This large tree reduces my output on every sunny day during the winter, just when I need it most. The tree is mine, but to fell a mature Ash tree in pursuit of a "green" lifestyle would be absurd.

You might consider optimisers on the panels to keep the system working under shading.
Alternatively split the array into short strings to limit the impact of a couple of shaded panels.
