@gamingonlinux When you think of readers as a resource, not as people.

@gamingonlinux if I happen to load up one of those sites, I never stay to read what I clicked.

@gamingonlinux The internet is such a mess.

You know, I wouldn't mind if a website had to resort to looking like that to stay in business and pay its enthusiastic authors, but you just know that the sites behind those curtains are just AI content mills milking every last drop.

@gamingonlinux it's not like those newsletter pop-ups stop when you subscribe to them, because the site has no way of knowing you signed up for them. So why even bother?

@gamingonlinux you're now my go-to website for gaming news even if it DOESNT pertain to linux just because GOL is the most usable website out there lmfao

@slimelia we may have adverts but they're minimal, never inside actual content and we don't bug you if you block them too

@gamingonlinux I use Brave which blocks ads on mobile too. Most web sites are unusable without ad blockers so they're essential these days. I'm sure you already know this but this is for everyone else too πŸ˜‰

Can’t browse the internet without an ad blocker condom on anymore. UBlock Origin goes on every one of my devices without fail.

@BroBot90001 @gamingonlinux Yeah, same here. Firefox with Ublock Origin and the EFF's Privacy Badger plugin.

Same with those Fandom sites, holy shit. I need special blocking scripts to use some of those sites, it's insane. How do people put up with this?

@gamingonlinux @pheonix has a whole essay on this particular disrespect of website visitors: https://thatshubham.com/blog/news-audit
It's not just games sites, it's every website.
