Cockaigne is an imaginary land of plenty from medieval folklore, where peasants live a life of luxury and ease. Food and drink are everywhere (the sky rains cheese), and neither lords nor priests are allowed to boss peasants around. It represents both wish fulfillment and resentment towards scarcity and Christian asceticism.
