    Unless there's a sudden shift in weather conditions, preliminary estimates show that 2026 set another new record low maximum extent for #Arctic sea ice. This follows very closely with last year, which previously set the record. Not good!

        @ZLabe

        Are the antarctic data from the same period available?

        It makes sense having data from the two hemispheres.

        Kind regards.

          @ZLabe my view is that actic ice will collapse suddenly, the thinning of ice cover has been going on for decades, it will not take much to break it up, this will expose the water to extra solar heating and wave destruction, making it less likely that further Ice can form.
          It will be quick acting and have a devastating effect.
