#HolosDiscover just hit 3 million indexed posts.
What matters more than the number: 145k deletions processed, 83k edits tracked, and over 1k opt-outs respected, all in real time.
Respecting people is the priority and the only way to do it right is to be a full #ActivityPub participant, receiving deletions, edits, and opt-outs as they happen. Before indexing anyone, Holos Discover follows their account, so they know they are being indexed and can opt out.

@CoolerPseudonym @apps if you actually visited the webpage you would have seen that opting out is incredibly easy:

@thibaultmol @apps I don’t want to visit the web page. I don’t want to read about it. I don’t want to learn the “easy” actions I must take. I don’t want to think or know about this “tool” in any way. I didn’t ask for it; I don’t even want it to exist. But now I have to. It’s all an unwanted imposition.

So you do it. Opt me out. It’s your job anyway, whoever made this, whoever runs it. I decline to accept the assignment.

Our account was set to refuse indexation. Guess what? Holos Discover never indexed a single message from it, while Google and others did. Recently I enabled discovery on the Fedilab account and Holos Discover followed immediately. Holos Discover is purely ActivityPub-based, so your instance settings are the priority.

@thibaultmol @apps Also since this is trivially easy surely it will require no questions OH WAIT

Since there is no option labeled “indexable” for me to turn off, but there are three which sound like they might be what you mean: which of the three is it?

              • Feature profile and posts in discovery algorithms

              • Include public posts in search results

              • Include profile page in search engines

Better for you to do it.

We never asked to be indexed. A clear opt-out that Holos Discover respected, but not Google. Just search "site:toot.fedilab.app", many messages indexed by Google even though we asked not to be. Holos Discover respected our opt-out.

I just want to be opted out of your service.

@apps@toot.fedilab.app ignore the haters. Block and move on if your attempts at education hit a brick wall.

Not worth your time if they're not open to learning.
