Just saw where someone said they went "across #Canada" from "Atlantic to Pacific".

Just saw where someone said they went "across #Canada" from "Atlantic to Pacific". Curious, I checked the start point. I assumed the person probably did the shortcut of starting in Halifax instead of the more distant St. John's. But no, they started in Toronto and went to Vancouver
I'm sure it was a lovely/tough/fascinating/etc trip. But it wasn't "across Canada", it was 2/3 of the way. And not Atlantic to Pacific unless you claim that Lake Ontario is the Atlantic

One of my summer jobs was working at a tourist info stop on Hwy 17 at the Keewatin Bridge just a little west of Kenora, ON. Many many people traveling east from MB would state that they were headed to Toronto and expected to get there by the afteroon/evening... easily a 2-day drive from Kenora on a 2-lane 'highway'. -

@lastrobot more appropriately, they went from the centre of the universe to the Pacific, according to your average Torontonian.

@lastrobot can confirm… that extra bit from Toronto to the Atlantic shores of QC, NB, NS or PEI is…. Large.
But then, the only place where I have ever been asked if it “was 10 or 12 hours to travel from Calgary to Toronto?”… was at a pub in Toronto.
I didn’t bother explaining where Vancouver Island was.

@chris @lastrobot That Calgary-Toronto question checks out.
Tourists to Montréal think they can do Québec and the Rockies in one weekend.

@EdwinG @lastrobot hahaha. Ya. Though I feel I must point out that my conversation was exclusively with Torontonians

@chris Oh… in that case, unacceptable!
