Il viceministro degli Esteri iraniano, Saeed Khatibzadeh, ha avvertito gli Stati Uniti che rischiano di trovarsi di fronte a un'altra guerra del Vietnam se decideranno di intervenire sul terreno. In un'intervista a Teheran all'emittente britannica Sky News, il viceministro ha detto che l'Iran è pronto a combattere finché sarà necessario e che al momento il Paese non è concentrato su una soluzione diplomatica.
Khatibzadeh non ha escluso la possibilità di negoziati ma ha chiarito che spetta agli Stati Uniti e ai loro alleati presentare una proposta che ponga fine al conflitto una volta per tutte. Quando gli è stata chiesta un'opinione sulla possibilità di un invio di truppe statunitensi sul territorio iraniano, il suo messaggio a Donald Trump è stato chiaro: "Basta che legga cos'è successo in Vietnam". Per quanto riguarda lo stato di salute della nuova Guida Suprema, Mojtaba Khamenei, il viceministro ha insistito sul fatto che è "in buona salute e al comando", nonostante non abbia ancora fatto alcuna apparizione pubblica.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister, Saeed Khatibzadeh, warned the United States that it risks facing another Vietnam War if it decides to intervene on the ground. In an interview in Tehran with the British broadcaster Sky News, the deputy minister said that Iran is ready to fight if necessary and that at the moment the country is not focused on a diplomatic solution.
Khatibzadeh did not rule out the possibility of negotiations but clarified that it is up to the United States and its allies to present a proposal that will end the conflict once and for all. When asked for his opinion on the possibility of a U.S. troop deployment to Iranian territory, his message to Donald Trump was clear: “Just read what happened in Vietnam.” Regarding the health of the new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, the deputy minister insisted that he is “in good health and in command,” despite not having yet made any public appearance.
