Eastern border regions are not only national borders.

    They are European borders.

Today, we proposed a strategy to support the EU regions bordering Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine.

Since Russia launched its war of aggression against Ukraine, they have been under growing economic and security pressure.

The strategy helps keep people safe, supports local economies, improves roads, energy and internet connections, and backs communities across these regions.

@EUCommission - Ukraine part of that 'Eastern border' only because the EU (plus UN and NATO) failed to support the country 4 years ago - longer if you consider Crimea - and continues to do so. And 'accidental' incursions into the EU by Russia / Belarus has equally been met with finding an excuse to do nothing.

@Tuuktuuk @EUCommission The EU is a neo-liberal, imperialist project, Europe is a continent.

They (EU commission etc) use language to try to "other" European peoples who do not take part in EU project.

Ah, so they were trying to other Ukraine here. Is the border between Belgium and Netherlands not an European border?

(Though, yeah, "EU border" would have been a better phrase)

EU is doing a lit of shitty things, but without it we'd have already been in an Europe-wide war decades ago. It's also protecting us from even worse imperialists such as the Russia, the only old colonial empire to still retain 100% of its colonies.

The EU failed Ukraine, but not as badly as the USA and UK who utterly reneged their agreement to protect Ukraine if it gave up nuclear weapons. Lesson learned, never give up your nukes or trust the USA and UK.

@NMBA @EUCommission - alas, Canada was complicit in the failure to protect. Canadian military in Ukraine to train their military to fight - if not the Russians, who - but bailed (sorry…’withdrew’) from country as Russians amassed on the borders.
Western nations have failed Ukraine - not just militarily, but diplomatically. Current ‘talks’ a stall technique by Russia and US, while others tut-tut in the background.

Too bad you didn’t see that before Ukraine was invaded - if everyone had supported them as we should have, Europe wouldn’t be so threatened now.

              Ask Hillary about it.

The citizens of EU support Ukraine's fight for freedom.
This doesn't mean we should not care about our own freedom and security.

Europe's strength begins when it stops applying double standards to human rights and international law.

Europe needs to stop enabling the genocide and Israel's decades of crimes.

Europe needs to apply the same sanctions to Israel as it does on Iran.

Europe needs to demand the end of Israel's nuclear threat.

here's an example of the EU's double standards on democratic rights, freedom and international law

And he's not the only person the EU has sanctioned for merely speaking

the EU is on the path to becoming a full blown tyranny, ruling over 450 million people

In January, a post I saw shocked me. “URGENT: As of now, I have ZERO access to any money,” Hüseyin Dogru wrote. “I can’t provide food for my family, including two newborns, due to #EU sanctions.” Dogru is a journalist, a German citizen living in #Berlin. After reading his post, I sent him a private message offering to order groceries and have them sent to his home. The reply shocked me even more. “Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to accept any financial or material support,” Dogru wrote. Dogru is the first European Union citizen known to be living inside the EU to face extrajudicial sanctions imposed by Brussels – robbing him of fundamental civil and humanitarian rights. He’s also the first person to be sanctioned specifically for his reporting related to #Palestine. “I’m not allowed to exist anymore, I’m not allowed to provide my children with the basic necessities,” he explained on The Electronic Intifada Podcast this week. “I can’t pay my rent, I can’t pay my lawyers and yes – I’m not even allowed to accept any kind of food, water or medicine whatsoever from third parties.” https://electronicintifada.net/blogs/ali-abunimah/eu-sanctions-german-journalist-shocking-first-over-gaza-reporting #sanctions #journalism #press #report #accountability #EUPolicy #genocidesupportingpolicy

They EU also sanctioned Nathalie Yamb for opposing French colonialism in Africa and Jaques Baud because of his high status as a Former Swiss intelligence officer who had the audacity to speak the truth about Ukraine. The EU is an unelected, undemocratic, authoritarian institution run by Nazis. You know The Empire is up to something nefarious when you're not allowed to say anything positive about Russia or anything negative about Ukraine. They know once the truth comes out they're credibility will be shot, so they'll keep that war going until the last Ukrainian.

I wonder how many European citizen will change their minds when they themselves are dragged to the front line against their will?
