Americans ask AI for health care. Hospitals think the answer is more chatbots.
Do you trust AI chatbots for health advice? What about one in your patient portal?

@arstechnica I am sceptical. There are studies that only about 30 % of the answers are right. One example: https://www.ai2med.eu/70-wrong-new-study-warns-ai-chatbots-still-struggle-in-medical-diagnosis/

@petes_bread_eqn_xls @arstechnica I'm sure another chatbot can heal you from that

@arstechnica Any hospital that thinks using AI chat bots for health advice is a good idea, they should automatically lose their medical accreditation.

This is not Star Trek. We are not at that level to have an AI chatbot give any form of medical advice. And we never will be.

@arstechnica I want a HIPAA amendment to prohibit the use of LLMs for manipulating, transcribing, or interpreting medical records in any way, shape, or form.

But of course that won't happen because money

I hate chatbots. Just wait until one gives out fatal medical advice.
