    Reports of US Tech social media companies shutting down LGBTQIA+ accounts en masse. Affecting legitimate companies in The Netherlands and globally. First reported 4 months ago, accounts restored then closed with no real appeal process.

    Do we Europeans have rights online.... or only offline?
    What do you think?

        @SecEvangelism I think europeans must emancipate from everything big tech (which is a synonym for US stuff) as soon as possible.

          @Bebef It seems off putting for any foreign government to hold such digital power over other countries. Also frustrating 😞

            @SecEvangelism Our mistake was thinking the private gardens were a public square. X is not a public space.

                @SecEvangelism
                That europeans should leave the hell out of authoritarian companies.

                Not just LGBTQIA+ people, all of us. We are all concern. We have to fight the network effect and move all our contents with is. Staying, exclude banned folks. Leave with them. Be united. Build strong and far from bigots.

                So leave Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc like you did for Twitter. Leave to ease the move for all who will follow.

                  @eniko we're left to assume it's the same companies that have been harassing, undermining, and shutting down accounts of LGBTQ+ individuals for more than a decade; provide terrible working conditions, especially to LGBTQ+ employees; have publicly aligned through high-profile ceremonies and changes to business terms with US, Saudi, Russian, and Chinese government censorship policie; and are active in wars, political campaigns, and technical that kills unthinkable number of people;

                  Why would LGBTQ+ themed companies insist on staying there, for "coverage", which we can assume are higher numbers made up largely of users who feel trapped because of how few organizations move to safer spaces, hostile government agents, amateur trollers, and manmade bots, all while shutting out the potential buyers who refuse to use those social media services.

                  "Who knows!"

                      @eniko Today and since it is now in Dutch Media. The company is Meta.

                      I have sent direct questione to the Dutch government reguarding the financial and rights aspects. Closing companies due to potential censorship affects tax's and economies. Potentially creating a stranglehold.

                      I have been assured Joope from one of the Dutch Ministries will respond shortly to me.

                      I have unconfirmed reports another account shutdown is occuring. Please keep alert and safe!

                        @shadowfals @eniko One if the challenges Jackie told me as to why she is or was in Meta.

                        Alternative social media to her is "screaming in the void" due to lack of coverage, audience numbers.

                        We absolutely must preserve our digital and economic rights

                          @dallo I agree, there is a list somewhere of EU alternatives. If I can find it I'll post

                            @SecEvangelism This is admittedly not early in my grappeling with this issue. It took me a while to digest the apparent conflict of "It's their servers, they should have arbitrary control" and "People deserve to say what they want".
