Women’s rights don’t look good through Meta AI glasses

@alexandrageese when #fckai-glasses are pointed in my direction, my first reaction is a punch in their face. Questions follow only afterwards.
@bent0_b0x @alexandrageese Agreed. I'll tell the idiot to remove them or I will remove them with my fist.

@alexandrageese Being a creep - the very origins of the whole Facebook saga

This app notifies you when smart glasses are nearby. It uses company identificators in the Bluetooth data sent out by these.

@alexandrageese All of this was discussed years ago with Google glasses, and they flopped. Apparently neither IT industry nor society have learned from this.

Make #glassholes afraid again. -
@alexandrageese Eat shit, #Meta.

https://github.com/yjeanrenaud/yj_nearbyglasses@alexblock @alexandrageese Presumably only if you have an Android or an iOS phone?
Then this is also something that (potential) victims have to do to make sure they are less unsafe.
Along with a rape alarm, pepper spray, self-defence courses, airtag detection app etc.
The important question is how can we stop "smart glasses" technology from making people's lives more dangerous?

@the_wub @alexandrageese Totally agree, an app doesn't solve the problem. These glasses are an extension of the evil that Meta thrives on. Meta has no redeeming qualities, nor do any of their technologies. Some products need to be banned, these are an example.

mine too, but since learning of the danger these glasses pose, If I see someone wearing them irl, I intend to walk up and ask loudly enough others can hear, "OOOh are those those meta glasses? Are you recording all of us here without our consent? Are you gonna dox me?" etc. Hopefully I can control that rage enough to get the words out. -

@the_wub @alexandrageese @alexblock so they will put it into a broach, even a hat or a button. Spying on others is an attitude not a necessity.

@alexandrageese Considering what Facebook started as, why is anybody surprised?

@Gurre @alexandrageese good thing they were ugly and no one wanted them anyway
