I love reading what other hikers/backpackers pack for their hikes, but would love to read what other women bring. My feed seems to consist of mainly male hikers, but I would love to connect with more female hikers (especially those who are a bit older). Sometimes I feel like I'm the only woman in her late forties to do longer hikes which cannot be the case. I follow the #walking, #hiking and #backpacking hashtags but maybe I need to follow other hashtags.
I'll post my own packing list for my upcoming trips (Netherlands in April and Norway in summer) when I get closer to my trip date. Meanwhile, if you're a woman over forty doing multi-day hikes, please say hi!

@Chrissy πŸ‘‹πŸ½ I’m mid-40s woman, love backpacking and being a nerd about packing logistics. I haven’t posted much about it because I spent last year recovering from a backpacking injury turned surgery. But been easing back into things since January. Sounds like some exciting trips coming up for you!

@quixoticgeek Hello! Nice to meet you. I'm from the Netherlands but have been living abroad for about 25 years now. Where do you typically like to hike?

@Chrissy Female hiker 46 y o here! I usually pack a few extra things to increase safety or to be more comfortable. Yep, I sleep on a 10 cm inflateable, got a comfy sleeping bag with lots of room, and prefer to carry good food instead of awful but light food. Oh, and I always hike with my dog, so I need to bring things for him too.

@meraord Ooh, what dog do you have? I always want to hike with my dog but he's an older pug and doesn't walk that far. I confess I don't really like carrying a very heavy bag so I try not to camp if I can help it. I do need a new tent as I can't sit up in mine but that's a concern for later.

@Chrissy hi! You're not the only one 😊 I'm almost 50 (it seems so strange to say it out loud, now), I hike in the Dolomites and I'm planning with my partner and some friends to go to the Kungsleden in Sweden for the second time. And we'll bring our dogs as well, so extra weight, too!

@cathest Hi Cath! 3 days in Tasmania sounds amazing. I tend to pack very light but I can see the value in bringing nice food.
