I love reading what other hikers/backpackers pack for their hikes, but would love to read what other women bring. My feed seems to consist of mainly male hikers, but I would love to connect with more female hikers (especially those who are a bit older). Sometimes I feel like I'm the only woman in her late forties to do longer hikes which cannot be the case. I follow the #walking, #hiking and #backpacking hashtags but maybe I need to follow other hashtags.
I'll post my own packing list for my upcoming trips (Netherlands in April and Norway in summer) when I get closer to my trip date. Meanwhile, if you're a woman over forty doing multi-day hikes, please say hi!

@Chrissy I'll say hello anyway, even though I haven't done multi-day hikes since my teens, my longest just over eight hours last June. I'll turn 67 in a few months, and am in western Montana. Anyway, hello, and you're right, there are few women on this hashtag, and certainly none in my neck of the woods. πŸ˜ƒ

@Chrissy πŸ‘‹πŸ½ I’m mid-40s woman, love backpacking and being a nerd about packing logistics. I haven’t posted much about it because I spent last year recovering from a backpacking injury turned surgery. But been easing back into things since January. Sounds like some exciting trips coming up for you!

@Chrissy Female hiker 46 y o here! I usually pack a few extra things to increase safety or to be more comfortable. Yep, I sleep on a 10 cm inflateable, got a comfy sleeping bag with lots of room, and prefer to carry good food instead of awful but light food. Oh, and I always hike with my dog, so I need to bring things for him too.

@meraord Ooh, what dog do you have? I always want to hike with my dog but he's an older pug and doesn't walk that far. I confess I don't really like carrying a very heavy bag so I try not to camp if I can help it. I do need a new tent as I can't sit up in mine but that's a concern for later.

@Chrissy Thank you, he is wonderful!! I can highly recommend lancashire heelers. Very easily maintained fur, goofy and playful, very cooperative-minded, has energy to hike for days. Their small size makes it easy to carry them if needed.

@Chrissy might This chat might interest you @Ali being a woman of a certain age, and obviously a considered packer.

@Chrissy Thank you, he is wonderful!! I can highly recommend lancashire heelers. Very easily maintained fur, goofy and playful, very cooperative-minded, has energy to hike for days. Their small size makes it easy to carry them if needed.

@sarahdalgulls Hello! Nice to meet you. I'd love to do some more hikes in Scotland, my son and I did the Hebridean Way two summers ago and it was amazing.
