Check out this insane curl by #Canada's #JonThurston against #Norway
If you don't know #curling the goal is to get your stones closer to the center than your opponent. The strategy is to knock your opponent's stones out, avoiding (or knocking closer) your own stones
His precision is stunning
There are no sweepers in #wheelchair curling, no adjustments to the shot after it is made. Instead his teammates hold his wheelchair steady

@benroyce That's threading the needle. Wow. Imagine being able to visualize that interaction from a distance. It's easy to see from above, but on the ice it's nowhere near as clear.

right? like the final scenario, where he knocks out two yellow stones is hard enough
but he *also* has to deal with that swarm of stones lying beforehand, and as you say, thread the needle. stunning work!

@benroyce And the perfection of tapping the one stone to then tap the other one without TOUCHING any of his stones in the target area. YES!
I used to bowl before arthritis in my thumb stopped me, and making tough splits by tapping a pin across the deck is just the ultimate thrill.

@benroyce it’s been so good! I’m watching the mixed doubles right now waiting for the sled hockey to start.

@benroyce absolutely staggering

if you look at the center line drawn on the ice you can see how the stone twirls and curves in an arc (or curls, duh) to thread between the other stones
outstanding
