Everyone wants to get rid of Trump, but I am starting to think we should give him a third term and get

    — Iceland in the EU
    — Britain rejoining the EU
    — Norway fully joining the EU
    — All EU countries switching to European weapons systems
    — Laws against US surveillance systems in Europe
    — An end to European collaboration with American NSA
    — More people switching to Mastodon to get away from Zuckerberg and Musk
    — Rise of European streaming services
    — Full bankruptcy of Tesla

    (Joking, but still…)

All good except for taking the #UK back please. Even when they were members they were always half arsed about it. Plus they'd only be a Reform victory away from leaving again. Keep them out

I agree to all you listed except the third term for Trump. He is a thread for us all, I couldn't take that. It would also be hard to bear for USA. Just remember what he has done and what he is doing.
But thank you for the list. It is inspiring.

          – Canada joins the EU
          – We develop continent severing technology and float Canada on over
          – EU goes carbon negative
          – Putin dies and Ukraine joins the EU

          @joshbuddy @randahl

I want Ukraine to defeat the Russians and join NATO (hopefully US-less but still effective), however them joining the EU is a different matter. We have enough corrupt, ultraconservative Eastern European countries already, thank you very much!

😬 There was once a comedy routine of #JimJefferies about electing Trump where he jokingly said: "...fuck it. Let's do it. Lets see how crazy this shit gets.."

Well. We've seen it. We see the ruines and the deaths around the globe.
So i'd say. Nope. Not one inch more. Not one fucking day. Not even as a joke.
                  Hell no.

@randahl I know you’re joking, but if every one of those things came to pass, none of it would change the material reality that Europe consumes ~5x more oil than it produces. And modern weapon systems are extremely dependent upon surplus mineral flows which another 7.5 billion folks are competing for

                      Jonathan Schofield (@urlyman@mastodon.social)

When we see fuel queues in countries with much lower oil demand per capita than Europe, which are outside the Persian Gulf region but a lot closer to it than we are – places like Sub Saharan East Africa, Sri Lanka – what does that tell Europeans about their place in the global order?

If he even tries there will be an uprising like we haven't had since our civil war. The armed forces will lead it too. It will be quick, and the powers that attempt such a thing will immediately be defeated. After typing all this, I may wish for the same thing now...the current administration is dumb enough to try.

@iaruffell @mcv @randahl 1/2 The Christian People's Party (KrF) here in Norway traditionally forms coalitions with the non-Socialist parties' block.

A few years ago the then party leader started a referendum process in the party which, if it had succeeded would have opened for the party to join the Red-Green coalition block.

To me it seems a no-brainer for the KrF give the tenets of Christianity, caring for the weak and dispossessed etc to be able to form coalitions with the Red-Green block.

@iaruffell @mcv @randahl 2/2 However, due to procedural machinations the leader lost the vote and the KrF confirmed its position as a party only willing to form coalitions with the right wing non-socialist block.

In terms of the votes cast is was pretty much a dead heat, thus indicating the split between conservative Christians and those with more left wing politics.

Parties like the Greens and Christian parties both suffer from these kinds of divisions to a greater extent than other parties.

@hermannus @randahl En andersom, and if I remember correctly in grammatically incorrect Dutch.

                                      "Elk nadeel heb zijn voordeel."
                                      "Elk voordeel heb zijn nadeel."

I am forced to admit though that I have never played football anywhere near as well as he did.

                                      Moge hij in vrede rusten.

@megatronicthronbanks @randahl Tesla only have two car models for sale.

BYD have a full range of vehicles in all classes. Not to mention commercial vehicles.

As do some manufacturers from Europe.

There is no way in the short or longer term that Tesla will be able to compete with such manufacturers.

Nor in terms of quality. I have yet to see a BYD car with bad panel gaps.

Looking at a couple of Xpeng cars in a ferry line up recently their quality control also seems to be spot on.

Yes, Donnie Demento has done SOOO much for the EU, he MUST continue doing the good work. Without him, the same shit of American oligarchy trying to rule the world would just go on and all the lazy people would still keep their eyes and ears shut as to ignore it because it's sooo "convenient" to have THEM decide over our freedoms and who gets our money.

Luckily, Donnie has opened a lot of eyes at least a bit.

                                          Boycott America, buy European.
