Omg... got to actually TOUCH the new @frameworkcomputer 13 pro.. and y'all.. they NAILED THIS!

I quit #apple back in 2020 and don't miss it ONE bit..... except the trackpad. I MISS the Apple trackpads.

Well no more.. Framework made the perfect trackpad here. Bloody well done!

@codemonkeymike @frameworkcomputer I will agree that Apple has made the best trackpad. That one looks VERY nice.

@Threadbane @frameworkcomputer i'm positive you can just order it a DIY and get it with NO OS. That's how I always do it.

I can't imagine any Linux user having an issue with getting a laptop with no OS because most people will install their own anyway

Installed my first Linux, version .98, downloaded to 12 diskettes in 1993. I wrote the Datek CD driver for that pre-release. I have wiped Micro$haft off a few dozen systems I’ve bought over the years, replacing it with Red Hat, Debian, Mint, Free BSD, etc. I’m 83 years old. I thought maybe, just once, I would not have to deal with it, not have to spend hours downloading, verifying, installing…I though for ONCE somebody at framework would spare me that. Wrong.

@falken @codemonkeymike @jfro @frameworkcomputer yeah, but the big new battery isn't backwards compatible, and that battery is part of the allure

In fact I'd almost rather have the new chassis+battery with the old mainboard

@rasmus91 @falken @codemonkeymike @jfro @frameworkcomputer This is going to be possible - chassis requires the new keyboard,as it's a new product line. As with other product lines, we support it ongoing of course.

            So old mainbboard, this chassis.

@codemonkeymike @frameworkcomputer Worth knowing: Framework's trackpad is swappable. You can replace just the pad itself without opening the chassis, and they sell replacements for about $30. Also keeps the whole thing repairable down the line if the mechanism ever needs work.

What a waste. Bait and switch, offering 4 choices of Linux distros, put together mMy memory, processor, etc, then only offered stinking Windows when asked to pick an operating system.

@Threadbane @codemonkeymike @frameworkcomputer that’s not a bait and switch. The announcements and ads are very clear that the Framework Laptop 13 Pro is the first Ubuntu Certified device and the first device to offer pre-installed Ubuntu. There’s no claim about the other devices. Linux support is outstanding on all of the devices but the pre-installed is only available for the 13 Pro for now and this is stated on the website.
