Growing up, I had a coach who wanted everyone to tuck in. He said it makes it easier for the referee to spot a shirt tug. Also that it was a sign of respect to the game.
I will admit it does look odd given almost nobody tucks anymore.Doesn’t help that Mateta’s shorts are pulled up to his rib cage.
