Which email provider handles your municipality's official communications?

We built mxmap.nl to make that visible, all Dutch municipalities, mapped by email provider based on public DNS records.
Inspired by the Swiss original mxmap.ch by David Huser. We adapted it for the Netherlands. All credit for the concept goes to him.

Under the CLOUD Act, provider location matters. The map makes the current reality clear.

@soverin Interesting to see that Den Haag is independent. Not shocking that Microslop runs the majority.

@samuel @soverin Yes. Amazing; how can you build this and at the same time be so digitally unaware? Always shielded from typing scary protocols by CMSs and, well, MSWord?

@soverin I would love to see in Thunderbird where a Mailserver is hosted. This is important to judge if I can (or want to) share sensitive Information.

But I can't find an extension that does this. 😞

@Lyude due to climate change, the rest of Europe sank. Centuries of fighting the sea taught the Dutch how to survive, with their landmass being 80m below sea level.

@Lyude I would be more concerned if the rest of the world was visible and the Netherlands had sunk… we spend good money on those dykes and I want them to work.

@soverin @jwildeboer I just found https://mx-map.de/ after seeing this, and was ... quite surprised that the situation wasn't nearly as bad as I expected!

@soverin Ohhh .... Wat een goed idee: verhuizen naar Apeldoorn!

Ooit ruim een jaar (achteraf gezien veel te kort) gewoond.

@larsmb @soverin @jwildeboer what a great project. Seems like I'll have to ask some questions in our Rathaus.
