      Poking around in group policy editor to figure out how much of this BS can be disabled... "block all consumer microsoft account user authentication", turning off literally everything under "search", etc seems like a good start.

      But I hate how many of the GPOs are negated where "enabled" turns something off etc

        and yet others "enabled" means you get to pick from a dropdown if it's allowed or not

          "don't search the web or display web results in search"... what ever happened to just having a "run" dialog where i can type an exe name and run it and not spawn an edge/bing session if i mistype it

                oh the "windows store" has its own list of applications... that explains why I didn't see much of the crapware.

                  @azonenberg I installed Win11 on a real machine a few month ago and it took me an entire day ... laptop listed as fully compatible. Got a real license too and still it would lock up during install and even overwrite its install media by putting stuff on the EFI partition of the USB installer stick ...

                  And then the result is also ... unusable. So much crap / ad / widgets / copilot everywhere ... how does anyone even _use_ this ... I miss win2000 ... (last windows I used regularely)

                    @tnt no idea but i need to interface with an industrial label printer I currently use from a win7 vm on a machine i'm preparing to decommission so I need to move it
