duckduckfedi: if you use an IDE, do you use vscode? if not, what do you use?
I used to use codium, but Microsoft restricts that in weird ways.
Used vim/later neovim for most of my time programming.
And recently switched to eMacs. Which’s doing everything I want from an IDE that neovim wasn’t. (And for its reputation is surprisingly easy to learn if you use a modern distro like doom)

@kuriko@wetdry.world Hannah does not use vscode. If it had to use an "out-of-the-box" IDE... it would use vscodium (a fork without the Microslop branding).
Nowadays it tends to use Helix. It's a terminal editor yes yes.... but it does the work for this one.
Eyeing Neovim with lazyvim rn.... but will probably stay with Helix. -

@kuriko surprisingly, i just organically stopped using vscode for zed. it's pretty neat.
-
@kuriko@wetdry.world though tbf "my text editor" is Kate, which has syntax highlighting for a ton of programming languages built in
@eggbreakerdotexe@transfem.social @kuriko@wetdry.world i mean kate has lsp support

duckduckfedi: if you use an IDE, do you use vscode? if not, what do you use?
@kuriko@wetdry.world kdevlop because i really like a specific theme in it lmao
and i have a grudge against vscode -
@kuriko@wetdry.world I use vscode more like a text editor than an IDE. in my opinion the distinction is "do I have to leave the program to do other stuff while developing software" and indeed yeah like half my workflow that isn't text editing is command line based. I don't ever use the runner functionality from vscode for instance, instead it's
cargo runor whatever equivalent.
but yes. I use vscode.@sodiboo@gaysex.cloud @kuriko@wetdry.world vscode integrated terminal tho?

@sodiboo@gaysex.cloud @kuriko@wetdry.world vscode integrated terminal tho?
@piku@blahaj.zone @kuriko@wetdry.world okay sure technicality with my definition. I use a mix of integrated terminal and external terminal. this does not matter; I consider teaching for both as "leaving vscode"

duckduckfedi: if you use an IDE, do you use vscode? if not, what do you use?
@kuriko thing i use that probably is an IDE: https://kate-editor.org
thing i use that i call an IDE but probably isn't: https://helix-editor.com/ -
duckduckfedi: if you use an IDE, do you use vscode? if not, what do you use?
i used to edit code in gnome builder, but tried helix (hx) in termux on my smartphon, and decided its not that bad and mostly use it now
-
duckduckfedi: if you use an IDE, do you use vscode? if not, what do you use?
@kuriko I use pycharm. Sometimes vscodium for stuff thats not python
-
duckduckfedi: if you use an IDE, do you use vscode? if not, what do you use?
@kuriko@wetdry.world tbh I mostly used Notepad++ but now I use Kate. Haven't really done anything in a few years that needed more than that.
I might try KDevelop if I need more fancy. -
duckduckfedi: if you use an IDE, do you use vscode? if not, what do you use?
@kuriko@wetdry.world Mix of Zed and Helix, depending on how much tooling i need.
-
duckduckfedi: if you use an IDE, do you use vscode? if not, what do you use?
@kuriko jetbrains rider because it's several heads above anything else for C# -
duckduckfedi: if you use an IDE, do you use vscode? if not, what do you use?
@kuriko Afraid so. I prefer using Nova for personal projects though.
-
duckduckfedi: if you use an IDE, do you use vscode? if not, what do you use?
@kuriko@wetdry.world my "comfort" IDE is Code::Blocks but truth be told it's kinda shit gjkldhklçhgdaklçhgjdlaçhgdlçahjlgdagda
