    @magsol @geerlingguy It's already been at $200+. Is this in addition to that?

    Edit: Yes it is.

    Raspberry Pi 5 16GB is available now for $305.

      @adx @geerlingguy Yeah I went to the Microcenter page just to check, and indeed it’s true: they jumped from $195-205 (it’s been oscillating because I’ve actually had my eye on it for a planned upgrade) to $299 *literally overnight*.

        @geerlingguy I know this is an April Fools joke, but these boards have got so expensive for my use case. it would be cheaper to buy a used desktop in this day and age.

          @geerlingguy glad I have a so-called "problematic" number of Pi 4 & 5 boards. I also found some DDR4 kits laying around the other day. Feels like I hit the saddest jackpot ever!

            @ro_c @geerlingguy it isn't a joke. Upton had to specifically say it's real "despite the date" in the linked blog post.

              @geerlingguy does this mean the 4GB model I got for a stalled project is an appreciating asset?

                @geerlingguy well, shit. I was actually waiting to buy a Pi 5 until the prices went down.

                I don't know about y'all, but I'd rather see people build cool ass projects than have access to the wrong answer machine.

                    @adx @geerlingguy I don’t know why, but Adafruit still lists the 16GB model as $219 (they’ve had it listed at that price for awhile—again, I’ve been checking 🫠), so where this was bizarre that it was $20 pricier than elsewhere, now it’s $80 *cheaper* than most others.

                    At least for now.

                      @geerlingguy this is starting to get really expensive, for a hobby

                      Long are gone the “let’s make this available for everyone” days

                      [edit] wait is this for real or just April 1st

                      @geerlingguy I know you’ve seen this video

                      we wanted it to be cost effective, we wanted it to be cheap

                      RPI1 was $35
