Anyway GOP officials called Lutnick about a Cantor-funded PAC planning to spend $1.75M on Ken Paxton and the PAC reversed course, but that’s probably just how independent companies behave when the former owner gets a phone call.

The article is referring to the Fellowship PAC, a Tether-led and primarily Cantor-funded super PAC that’s backing a slate of MAGA candidates in the midterms.

Cantor Fitzgerald — the firm previously run by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, now controlled by his sons, and which also custodies the reserves for offshore stablecoin issuer Tether — put $10 million into a Republican-focused crypto super PAC led by a Tether executive. https://www.citationneeded.news/commerce-secretary-howard-lutnicks-old-firm-pumps-10-million-into-super-pac-led-by-tether-executive/ #crypto #cryptocurrency #USpolitics #USpol

@molly0xfff Are they following the typical crypto playbook of backing surefire winners, or can we look forward to at least some of this obscene spending going down the drain? Hopefully the mid term backlash is big enough that there are no surefire winners amongst the MAGA candidates but that’s probably just wishful thinking.
