The trip to Ireland has been booked. We'll be there visiting the various cities to get a "feel" for them and see if there's anything from the visit that will tip our decision, one way or another, to move.

@Diami03 Oooh. I only spent one weekend there, in Dublin, but I remember it being both beautiful and friendly.

There are absolutely many times I want to escape the US suburban chaos for the slower pace of Ireland or Yorkshire. (We really like North Yorkshire, but at this point the UK gov is also concerning).

@Diami03 Ireland is good stuff. You might be seeing it at its best if it is anything like the west coast of Bergen (provided you visit in May or June). So expect more rain in other months. But rain is perfect for indoor hobbies 🙂 Best of luck! Pretty sure you will like it a lot.

@leb I've been to Dublin a few times and of course through the lens of "Damn I would live here" but this is the trip to see how practical life would be for us. It would be very different, depending on where we lived and are we willing to make that level of change.

@Diami03 It will be interesting to hear the conclusion. Apart from metric and Irish accents, I would think it pretty ok.
