Somebody asked recently.
Taking the URL from a post, such as https://dudo.social/@ucas/116198464989814369, and putting it into a new post is recognized by Mastodon, and treated as a quote post.
(Mastodon v.4.6.0.alpha.5+glitch, this is a Glitch instance, but I believe this to be regular Mastdon behavior).
