Now THAT is how you describe music in writing:

"Bowles uses the 4-track cassette recorder to generate improvised pieces that are built upon, stripped away, and reconstituted into slabs of mid-fidelity string-bending scuzz, creaky seasick organ wheeze, and eye-searing harmonic shimmer."

Left Seven improvisations (keyboards, tapes, banjo) recorded to cassette (4-trk & 1-trk) at home(s) 2023-2025 mix assistance & mastering by brian haran photo by matthew ‘doc’ dunn bc / digi only for now yr support is v much appreciated stay righteous ======================= Nathan Bowles’ new self-released collection ’Seven Lefts’ arrives as the result of a several-years-long personal practice: improvisation as a function of home recording. With an instrumental palette of keyboards, tape samples, and banjo, Bowles uses the 4-track cassette recorder to generate improvised pieces that are built upon, stripped away, and reconstituted into slabs of mid-fidelity string-bending scuzz, creaky seasick organ wheeze, and eye-searing harmonic shimmer. Initially recorded as a way to reflect on evolving instrumental techniques and arrangement ideas, these pieces were then edited down, mixed, and sequenced (with clutch assistance from Brian Haran) into something well-suited for the particularly tuned ears and hearts of those who dig their ideal listening viscosity calibrated somewhere between amniotic fluid and quicksand.

@NearerAndFarther It’s very experimental, but I love his work, especially the “Setting” collaboration with Jamie and Joe Westerlund.
