My previous post made me wonder: Which EU country has the largest presence on the #Fediverse? Do we have any statistics?

I have the impression that the German-speaking community is stronger than the French one, but I'm biased because I follow more topics about the country I live in.

I don't believe Italy and Spain have a strong presence here.

@everton137 Well, Mastodon is based in Germany and a German company, so their basic community must be quite big. While it may be different for the Fediverse!
The French instance piaille.fr alone has 8.2K active users. It's only one. French speaking people live also in Switzerland and Belgium.
And don't forget that many people write English or use the biggest Mastodon-instances, so you can't see where they sit. How to count them?
