Donald Trump’s behavior has raised urgent alarms. From threatening catastrophic military action to posting bizarre, self-aggrandizing content and lashing out at global leaders and institutions, his conduct is dangerous.

Now, Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD) has introduced legislation to finally create an independent, bipartisan Commission on Presidential Capacity.

Call your Representative and demand they support this new legislation.

@democratsabroad I've always been impressed by Representative Raskin. And I know I'm fulfilling a stereotype with a grumpy response.

But it's just so damned demoralizing to be on the receiving end of a call to action to dial a number to wait in a queue or leave a message demanding that our elected representatives do the job that we (checks notes) elected them to do. That we'd better get on the horn, because otherwise the representatives of the people will no know to do everything they can to staunch the bleeding from our self-inflicted wounds.

If this is a strategic gambit to gain more mid-term seats and maybe capture the senate, then fine. I'm for it. But let us no kid ourselves that anything else meaningful or more than symbolic would come of this. It all just feels so "this is as close to business as usual as we can manage at the moment, please give".

A good start would be for Rep. Raskin, and other supporters, to actually connect with the electorate themselves, in a public way, rather than relying upon social media campaigns.
