AfroPop Worldwide featured music from the Strait of Hormuz this month. The music called, Bandari, is part of the Afro-Iranian tradition originating with East Africans who moved to Iran. The traditional music is used in zar rituals, often played at weddings. Here's a clip from a group of younger musicians, Labyrinth, trying to preserve their culture and add in modern beats.
