    I guess most magnetic storage is like this. Floppy disks, despite their limited capacity and speed, was akin to USB storage in terms of simplicity and support. Then optical drives came along, adding a load of friction to data storage. CD/DVDs are fine for music players, but moronic for moving data between machines
