All these platforms are adding a requirement for a government ID and I keep thinking about this buddy of mine I went to college with. Same age as me but has never gotten a passport, never chose to learn how to drive, and it’s entirely possible that he doesn’t have an ID to show even if he wanted to do so.
There are broad swaths of people who will be unable to access some of these sites even if they were perfectly comfortable with the idea of handing over their data. As with so many parts of this world, I imagine it will be poor people, disabled people, people with developmental delays, and immigrants who find themselves unable to access this new internet.
If you have money to support your favorite open source initiative that has come out against things like age verification, AI, data mining, etc. throw a coin to your Witcher and help them stay afloat so that we can have an internet for everyone.
