Our favorite coffee spot, High Five on the French Broad River in Woodfin, NC, was burned down this morning by an arsonist.

This senseless act has angered me so much. The family who owns this and another location had managed to build the shop back only 10 months ago, after losing it during hurricane Helene in September 2024. We have been so very happy to have it back.

We're trying to see how to reach the owner, and try to do something for their employees.

@czarbucks How horrible. I'm sorry for the owners, the employees, and you. If there's a fund to contribute to, please let me know.

A couple of shots of High Five.

We've been taking bags of dog treats and a toy each time we visited for about a month, as since this is Asheville, the baristas usually have their dogs there, and so do many customers.

It's where I dropped off the packages of Ice Alert whistles I'd put together for 2-3 months.

              I can't believe it's gone again.

@czarbucks Unbelievable. So sad. For the owners, but also for the visitors. Shouldn't happen but it did. 😢

We visited one of the other 2 High Five #Coffee locations here in #Asheville today. The Man spoke to a barista he recognized from the river location (and who recognized him as well.) The fellow said they're all getting shifts at the 2 remaining cafe's and that they will definitely rebuild.

He also said the owner was thinking about bringing in a coffee truck there in the meantime, which we enthusiastically supported.

The Man gave him a large tip, and told him we'd supported them via the GoFundMe, and we hoped they'd be ok in the meantime.

So, hope for all, I guess.
