@colinstu It seems like you guys were right. I took it apart, disconnected the keyboard and the beeping stopped. The keyboard has a problem...
@82mhz @howtophil hopefully it's just a matter of cleaning the switches/keys perhaps.
Do any keys feel stiff or sticky or don't depress all the way etc?
Worst case scenario the keyboard could be replaced. At least it's nothing more serious!

No the keys all feel fine. I booted it up again with the keyboard connected... this time no beeps, and an online keyboard test shows no keys permanently pressed. Maybe it was just a matter of cleaning and reseating the cable. Hopefully...

Einther way, thanks both of you for the hint! I wouldn't have guessed that it might be the keyboard...@82mhz @howtophil I may or may not have smashed the keyboard on a thinkpad after some very frustrating Windows sessions... a lot.
(poor laptop. it all survived fine though... that is when I noticed that beeping happening tho and it felt way too familiar)
