    Microsoft are removing the Copilot integrations in Notepad, Snipping Tool etc in Windows.

    Turns out telling PMs to bake Copilot into everything was a dumb idea.

    @GossiTheDog 25 years ago I was a PM for an analytical app at a large ERP. Word came from on high that every product had to modify sales presentations to include Daily Business Close
    We pushed back that anyone trying to generate results from our unit daily is doing it wrong. This was a quarterly or event driven tool for process reengineering
    They made us add the boilerplate slide but we filibustered long enough that we never built the integration and the SVPs moved on to the new hotness.

      @GossiTheDog

      Microsoft has blown it in every possible way for the last 40 years.

      The OS has only gotten worse as this shows, they blew it in the phone market, they've blown it in the app arena and if it wasn't for their locked in, 'we have no where to go' customer base they'd be out of business...

      Now they're losing most of Europe as they go Linux and dump office and outlook services

              "As part of this, we are reducing unnecessary Copilot entry points"

              They should be deleting those entry points one by one until there is only one left: an application called Copilot that is optional and the majority of people won't install.

                @GossiTheDog I'm not sure I entirely believe the "It's not that there's a gnawing hole in the balance sheet that demands sacrifice or a really lame machine cult in the c-suite; it's just that our PMs have failed glorious copilot" excuse for why MS ux what it is.

                            @GossiTheDog my org broke access to the windows store, so I never got the notepad update with copilot, I only ever got the tabs/“keep your tabs when it closes without saving” features which are fantastic.

                            Thank god vulnerability management isn’t my job.

                              @GossiTheDog just manually edit the registry to disable wsappx service and remove all windows apps, and use classic win10 apps instead. Still works fine.

                                      @CraigStuntz @GossiTheDog looking at crosstalk and it being like ".NET Messenger" on MSN is super weird

                                        @GossiTheDog are we at the "we need to focus on outcomes instead of chasing kpis" stage of AI product management

                                        @grumpasaurus @GossiTheDog Hahaha that'll never happen. They're probably doing it for cost savings.

                                          Microsoft are removing the Copilot integrations in Notepad, Snipping Tool etc in Windows.

                                          Turns out telling PMs to bake Copilot into everything was a dumb idea.
