    Are we being warmed up?

    “I know the situation in the Middle East is worrying for British people in the region, and at home.

    It’s my duty as Prime Minister to keep British people safe.

    I will be answering questions on the steps we took over the weekend in Parliament.”

    #Starmer going to update Parliament at 3.30pm today.

    @JugglingWithEggs

    And the best way to keep British people safe is...

    ...join the aggressors in an illegal conflict.

        @JugglingWithEggs @peterbrown tax residency is a lagging state though so even though you may have moved to Dubai your tax liability could still be in the UK for up to three years after you go. It's not as simple as some of the simple simons claim. Moving abroad has three components, the right to live there by visa or nationality, tax residence and social security, simply fleeing and not paying tax is avoidance

          @JugglingWithEggs @peterbrown If you spend 187 days in the UK or pretty much anywhere they have an income tax claim on you. This is frequently dodged

            @humanhorseshoes @peterbrown

            But an overwhelming push for people to move to Dubai long term is the lack of taxes.

                Kemi #Badenoch and Nigel #Farage barely containing their support for #Trump…and indicating their interest is protecting the very rich. This from the former:

                “The official explanation for the hesitancy is international law, but this is a fig leaf.
                The real explanation is not legal, it is political.

                Across the UK there are groups whose political loyalties when it comes to conflicts in the Middle East do not align with British national interests.

                These are people who Labour sees as their voters”

                  What are these ‘British interests’ you talk of Kemi?

                  They are oil, rich tax avoiders and Israel…not the Iranian people or the Palestinian people.

                    Meanwhile #Farage tries to sound like a cross between an old school colonialist and Tony Blair…because of cause he would so like to be #Trump’s poodle.

                    But there is no opposition party in Iran waiting to take over. Protestors have very recently been ritually slaughtered in their thousands…yet:

                    “This is, I firmly believe that freeing up, freeing-up Persian people can go on and achieve the most extraordinary things. So yes, I do support it personally, I support regime change very much indeed,”

                          Just watched #Starmer address Conmons. Nothing really new from him - except that he claims it was two separate #Trump requests over the weekend and two separate decisions his government took:

                          1) to join #US #Israeli attack on Iran - No
                          2) to allow US to use UK airbases for defensive purposes of allies in the region at risk from indiscriminate attacks from #Iran - Yes

                          Clear that #Badenoch would have said yes to both in a heartbeat, no consideration for legality of war.
