    "Since it's a thing now, I should note that the layoffs aren't related to AI. To the extent it improves productivity, we want to have as many awesome developers developing great content and tech as we can."

    Pretty sure the ai spending is not null

      @gamingonlinux I will need to contact my bank and make sure they sell all of the v-bucks, since this Fortnite economic downturn sounds pretty bad.

        @gamingonlinux I like how they mention only Fortnite and not all the other ill advised ventures

            @kazord @gamingonlinux "aren't related to #AI" that's likely true as in devs didn't get replaced by sentient laptops, however AI driving the price of hardware up means players have less money to spend on games, dev machines and build servers cost more, subcontractors fees get higher, cloud and infrastructure's bill increases. So in that sense it's very related to AI

              @duckz @gamingonlinux "Market conditions today are the most extreme [.] massive opportunity for the companies that come out as winners on the other side. [.] we aim to bring other like-minded developers in the industry along on the journey to build an increasingly open and vibrant future of entertainment together."
              Read it like : we want AI-open minded developers, to build AI generated Fortnite (or other game) to be the AI-gamz generator leading company
              (But no not AI related)

                I wonder how long will their games store and publishing division stay afloat. Still dodging anything related to Alan Wake as a result.

                    @hobbs @monstrodosrtiago @gamingonlinux yeah, also no client running in the background and offline installers are nice. GOG and Itch are winning here 100%

                      @gamingonlinux Pretty wild to think 1000+ people were making a living from teenagers spending v-bucks in Fortnite.

                        @gamingonlinux

                        A bit concerning for the company how much of the reasons were related to Fortnight. It can't be healthy to put almost all of your money on one pony.

                        Secondarily, lowering wages and raising cost of living is leading to well-known results. It's just, that, well...
