Our tour guide took us to the Akagi Shrine in the Kagurazaka district of Tokyo. This shrine is dedicated to Mt. Akagi and the Akagi Daimyojin, a kami believed to bestow success on the performing arts.

Larger shrines will sell prayer cards or plaques, so you can write a prayer on them and leave them for the associated kami to consider. Because this kami blesses the performing arts, people will leave prayers for everything from getting concert tickets to their favorite TV show being renewed for another season.

We saw these hanging there and our guide said they appeared to be prayers from employees at a company called Shueisha Games to make their new game ANTHEM#9 "a big hit". I bought it on Steam for about $11.

It's not really my type of game, but at least I can say I helped answer someone's prayers. 😂
