    @EUCommission

    Does the EU support the Dark Skies ideal - will the EU sattelites be required to have low brightness?

        @EUCommission Excellent initiative! How about non-governmental critical infrastructure for last resort communication? All obvious sat phone networks are US based. Are there european options?

            @androcat @EUCommission as far as I can tell, the this agency will be administrative only, as in administering countries access to satellites. Not getting them up there.

            It will use bandwidth from satellites in the IRIS2 program.
            So any technicalities about satellites and such have to be gotten from IRIS2 and they have not begun to do anything about producing satellites. I don't know about designing though.

            Here is their page: https://defence-industry-space.ec.europa.eu/eu-space/iris2-secure-connectivity_en

                          Cyber Security: A Pre-War Reality Check - Bert Hubert's writings

                          This is a lightly edited transcript of my presentation today at the ACCSS/NCSC/Surf seminar ‘Cyber Security and Society’. I want to thank the organizers for inviting me to their conference & giving me a great opportunity to talk about something I worry about a lot. Here are the original slides with notes, which may be useful to view together with the text below. In the notes there are also additional URLs that back up the claims I make in what follows.

                            @belohoub @EUCommission Indeed, but I have so far only found broadband and other data services, not anyone that will sell af phone or two, for a just in case DR scenario.

                                    @torf @EUCommission radio transponders floating unguarded in space even more so if the adversary is not a bum looking for some copper wire but a nation state capable of sending payloads to Earth's orbit if not the Moon.

                                      @steelman @EUCommission So far, space ones were more reliable (not that it couldn't change, of course).
