    Our makerspace needs new 3D-printers. I was originaly set for #bambulab but with the apparent non respect for #GPL

    Which 3D-printer should I look into? Is there any printer that does not require too much tinkering?

    Budget, 600 USD/EUR
    Should work with Linux, and also stuff like repetier.

    @selea
    The GPL is just the tip of the iceberg—consider the data sent to their home country with your logs, printing via their cloud, and you can look up videos online about their "repairability." And most importantly—are you planning to burn down your building?

      @sobek @selea @foxylad FWIW, self assembled makes the price much friendlier. I got a MK4S, had literally 0 3DP knowledge beforehand. Took me two weeknights to complete it, but the instructions were all very clear and it was successful.

      And I did it without the motivational gummy bears! They don't ship them to Brazil

        @foxylad

        Do I need to assemble them myself?

        @selea You can choose assembled or not. Assembled costs more and you miss out on all the fun of building them.

            @selea i would recommend a prusa mini but if you can buy a bigger #3dprinting prusa that would be better

              @selea 600 USD is closer to 500 EUR in pure value, and with taxes and tariffs that can shift the balance even further. Where are you based, generally speaking?

                  @selea Near Malmö? I might be thinking about selling my MK4S, with enclosure, and I could drop it off (I’m based in Copenhagen).

                      @selea Not entirely out of my way when I go to Lysekil, but not really feasible to have the 3D printer and my scuba gear in the car simultaneously. Sorry!

                            @selea trevligt! Jag har en fin maskin som jag skulle kunna bortskänka till makerspace. En Snapmaker A350 med en del reservdelar. Den har både 3D-utskrift, laser och CNC-huvud. Just nu står den och samlar damm hemma hos mig, och det gör mig ledsen, så jag vill hellre ge bort den till någon makerspace som kan använda den än att den bara står oanvänd.
