      ***big fat offroad tires don't work great on snow and ice, IMHO. I have a 4 Runner and found that out the hard way, luckily, only spun out, didn't go plunging down a cliff 😬

          @cR0w @ai6yr
          Indeed! You need to get to the bottom of things, not float on top!

          Also, 4WD doesn't make you stop any better.

            @ColesStreetPothole @ai6yr It helps with the compression braking but yeah, it doesn't help with braking.

              @cR0w @ai6yr Yeah, and if they were planning on compression braking on snow/ice, well, that won't engage the ABS. I see his damage multiplier may have kicked in, too. πŸ˜†

                @ColesStreetPothole @ai6yr I love hearing "damage multiplier" because of how many I see out in deer and elk country.

                  @cR0w @ai6yr

                  We use winter tyres for the smaller car and chains for the 4x4. The former is way more practical, but sometimes you need the grunt...

                    @davep @ai6yr I use A/Ts on both the little Subaru and Tacoma. There isn't enough clearance to run chains on the Crosstrek but I keep them in the Tacoma year-round.
