Here's @Variety's story on the comments, which were made at a town-hall event during a conversation about releasing movies in theaters. We want to know: Does he have a point? Are these dying arts?

@CultureDesk @Variety How about posting a poll asking if people have seen a Chalamet movie?

Sorry, here comes a generalization about a country, but this is such an American take. "If I don't care, "no one" cares". Tell that to the millions of kids going to ballet classes.
There are a lot of things I am not interested in doing, including watching anything Kardashian, but I have never called for an "end" to them.
I also haven't seen a quote from this guy that shows any sense of humility or grace. He is rapidly climbing the list of vapid celebrities who really should be ignored.

@Corb_The_Lesser It's a very good point! He wasn't the worst person in "Call Me by Your Name" so he has that going for him!

@AnnieBuddy Someone described him recently as a dude-bro in disguise as a sensitive indie actor.

@CultureDesk @Variety I admit I do not care about opera, but I have friends who love it and attend livestreams from the Met. I do care about ballet, though. I love it and think contemporary choreographers need more visibility and support!

I hope they are not dying. What a terrible thing to say. Opera has been around for more than a century! I use to have a season subscription to the City Opera and Ballet at Lincoln Center when I was in my late 20's-30's. I loved it. It got harder to go so regularly as work/travel demands changed. I saw some of the most fun productions! My favorite Lucia di Lammermoor (besides all the Mozart Operas). I also had a subscription to the NY Philharmonic. So fun!

I've only seen a few quotes and none of his acting, but that definitely sums up what I have read.
