@mshelton I call bullshit on this. I presented a research study (whose notification was silently ignored by the Signal team) showing that Signal (and its partners) have access to so much more data than what they pretend they have: https://archives.pass-the-salt.org/Pass%20the%20SALT/2025/slides/PTS2025-TALK-25-metadata_prot_in_instant_msg_apps.pdf
The US gov can force them to hand over or create records of so much more metadata. If the gov does not sue Signal for withholding these info, it can only mean one other thing.
