Signal recently released another grand jury subpoena which, as always, basically had nothing interesting to turn over in response. For the requested phone numbers they could only provide the account creation timestamp. https://signal.org/bigbrother/district-of-columbia/

Signal's recent disclosure of how little it could share in response to a grand jury subpoena is pretty telling. Its defaults are very strong. But if you want to go further, we have a guide on really how to really maximize its privacy settings. https://freedom.press/digisec/blog/locking-down-signal/

@mshelton I call bullshit on this. I presented a research study (whose notification was silently ignored by the Signal team) showing that Signal (and its partners) have access to so much more data than what they pretend they have: https://archives.pass-the-salt.org/Pass%20the%20SALT/2025/slides/PTS2025-TALK-25-metadata_prot_in_instant_msg_apps.pdf

The US gov can force them to hand over or create records of so much more metadata. If the gov does not sue Signal for withholding these info, it can only mean one other thing.

@mshelton but when US want your data they will shut down signal, and since singal is hosted 100% over hyperscaler that cave in any pedo whitehouse command they are dead.

You can trust their encryption ... but not their availlability.

            have backup app like @delta

@mshelton I didn't like it the first time I tried it, and won't try it again. Don't see it's value for me.
