@verge what's crazy in a lot of situations is that some specs are so off the wall you have to go with some stupidly specialized part and stock pile enough to get through the life of the existing support contract. Then when the next support contract closes the original vendor of the part no longer exists. This is effectively how the industry has been as far back as the 70s
