If you want more adventure in your life, ride a #motorcycle

Got on my bike to ride home from work, turned the key... all electronics died 3 seconds after turning on and stayed dead.

Battery completely gone? Didn't sound or feel like a fuse.

Pushed the motorcycle to the motorcycle shop a couple of hundred meters down the road.

A five minute diagnose later: wires going into the ignition lock are broken. Fixable, but not now. Give us your name and phone number, here's the keys for a loaner.

Totally excellent service and trust from a small village motorcycle shop!

As an aside, I love how mechanics define "This is a good car" (*slaps the hood*).

It means: everything works and it is dependable. I got a 20 yo Hyundai i10 with 261K kms on the odo. It runs fine and the radio works.

@ankedesign Het viel me alles mee.

@fschaap I had something similar last year. Ended up getting recovery out who, after stripping off most of the front end, repaired the wires. So glad I was in the car park at work, he’d never have stripped it down like that at the side of the road.

I used to resent the annual cost, but after that, it’s worth every penny!

@Andy Yeah, roadside assistance is really worth it if you really need it. I do pay for it! I was happy I was close to the motorcycle shop so that was the easier solution 🙂

@fschaap Now try that in the wild and you’re stuck without a bike for a week or so. 🤣

@fschaap I've had the opposite of that electrical problem (i.e. impossible to diagnose). In my case, it was exacerbated by heat, so I was able to limp the 1700 remaining km home by riding in the mornings and evenings, and keeping the engine under 4500rpm.

It is so valuable to have a reliable shop nearby. I'm envious.
