    @hannah $8/gallon is Β£1.58/litre if you've following along at home (in the UK).

    @chiffchaff @hannah Finland is at ~2€/litre which is about $8.5/gallon last I checked online. Welcome to the >$8 club to those who celebrate in the US. 😁

          @kAlvaro @hannah I think this must be a super-special "gas station" in the US, but I was surprised petrol was similar there to the UK.

          (Fwiw, source for calculation Wolfram Alpha).

            @chiffchaff @hannah
            That's close to the Β£1.72 per litre I saw today when I cycled (πŸ˜‰) past a petrol station in Crawley.

              @jago @chiffchaff @hannah Italy was the same before the government reduced it with an emergency policy (paying for it basically).

                  @hannah

                  $US 8.31/gal is $Can 3.02/L. That's spicy.

                  Regular gasoline locally is $CAN 1.73/L or $US 4.76

                      @hannah for context as someone who is in that area, the actual prices average to around 6 bucks a gallon, I last refilled for around $5.80 though I've gotten better deals

                        @hannah Singapore petrol prices are still 50% higher than that. And that doesn't stop people from buying petrol powered cars.

                          @hannah but that's still cheap, an US gallon is almost 4 Liter, so prices are even cheaper than in EU or similar.
