Yikes, according to the Apple website, watchOS 27 is only for Series 10 and above.

You’re out of luck if you have a Series 9, Ultra 1 or earlier.

That means my Apple Watch Series 9 only got two major watchOS updates before they dropped support for it (even though it has the same CPU as the Ultra 2, which is supported?).

That’s a bit surprising given the specific call-out about iOS supporting older devices and optimising their performance.

@dale I’m wondering if it’s a mistake on their website (it wouldn’t be the first time).

The Series 9 and Ultra 2 use the same CPU, yet the Ultra 2 is supported while the Series 9 isn’t. That seems pretty odd.

@dale p.s. they’ve now updated the website to include Series 9 in the supported devices. Phew!

@eurozerozero 😅 good good, I like this watch.. I think it launched ~3 years ago? It’d be pretty aggressive to exclude it from major updates
