This is Rigby. He’s my little buddy and I love him more than life itself. He’s a gold medalist lap cat and sweet to every human he encounters. However, he annoys the hell out of the other cats and near dinner time he just about loses his mind worrying if he’ll be fed. The vet said he was suffering from anxiety and that we should try a medication. My precious boy has now been on anti-anxiety drugs for a few weeks. The good news is that it’s helping but I’m really sad we didn’t try this sooner.😿

@moelassus sounds like rigby has some excellent human companions. those little white patches on his chest are adorable. he reminds me of my little black Mo. she has little white sprout of hair on her neck similar to Rigby. and a little patch on her tummy.

It's good that it's helping though. Handsome cat! Ours all worry about dinner around 9:30.

We felt the same with Ajax, his dementia and the CBD. Wish we'd have tried it sooner.

@That_One_Guy Thanks. It really hurts to learn you’ve failed your pet. I am really glad it’s helping and he has been really good with the meds. It’s a cream you rub in the ear.

      Dementia must be really hard.

@wgwz Thank you. Black cats have always been my favorite. Don’t tell my two tabby cats I said that. 😊

We tried a couple prescriptions and nothing worked. The CBD does help a lot but I was hesitant until the vet said it wouldn't hurt him, so why not.

Rubbing medicine in a cats ear could get interesting, it's nice he's cooperating.

@moelassus Rigby is adorable. I understand the regret, but how nice that the meds are helping now!

@That_One_Guy I’m blown away that CBD helps with dementia. Do they have any idea how it works?

I don't think so, there hasn't been a ton of testing. Most studies I found were done around anxiety. Fireworks and other stressful situations for dogs. Apparently the dementia in dogs centers around being anxious or restless so it helps with those aspects.

He still stares off into space outside to the point you have to walk out and tap his back. Melissa thinks he's going deaf but I don't believe he is. Small sounds still trigger him.

@jeridansky yeah, I’m really happy he’s acting more relaxed. I use to joke that he probably thought his name was ‘Stop It Rigby’ because he heard that so often. 😊

@That_One_Guy oh that’s gotta be hard to see your pet go through. I can imagine the confusion would cause a lot of anxiety. I’m glad the CBD helps maintain a quality of life for your pup.

Thanks. We are too. It's given him the highest quality of life a 14 year old lab with dementia could ask for. Oh and an increase in meat, potatoes and veggies. He's started putting on weight, for a year he was borderline too thin.
